Wiley Take Home Two Awards at AIB Queensland Awards

Wiley is honoured to announce that we have been the recipient of two Queensland AIB awards for Gundagai Meat Processors (GMP) and FareShare projects.

The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has a long history of supporting individuals who contribute to the well-being of both the Institute and the Australian building profession. For more than fifty years the Institute has recognised these individuals, providing awards at different levels.

Up against tough competition, Wiley was awarded:

  • High Commendation | Gundagai Meat Processing Facility Upgrades | Other Construction
  • Professional Excellence | FareShare Community Kitchen | Other Construction

Wiley’s Site Manager Brendan Dickson was present on the evening of the AIB awards dinner in Brisbane, to accept the award for FareShare his and Lauren Elliss, the project manager’s behalf, alongside Fareshare’s Director, Kellie Watson. The FareShare kitchen enables staff and volunteers to cook meals on a larger scale for vulnerable Australian’s. The kitchen is equipped with industrial-scale food processing equipment, including 300-litre electric saucepans, which are able to cook 750 meals at a time. Wiley delivered the project at cost for FareShare to ensure they could work to feed Queenslanders experiencing food insecurity as soon as possible.

GMP’s investment in upgrading their facility has supported them to update their aging facility, whilst increasing their production by more than 30% (this requirement was surpassed, with additional increased capacity). Wiley delivered services in master planning, early cost estimating, design, procurement, construction commissioning. Wiley’s project manager David Burton-Bradley was present on the night of the event to accept the AIB award for the GMP facility upgrades.

Wiley CEO, Robert Barron said, “Congratulations to all the award winners at the Queensland Australian Institute of Building Awards. I am very proud of the Wiley team, our clients, our consultants, our suppliers and subcontractors. These awards are a testament to every individual’s diligent hard-work as a member of the team led by our project leads David Burton-Bradley, Lauren Elliss and Brendan Dickson.”
